ロービジョンとは

ロービジョン（低視覚）とは、眼鏡やコンタクトレンズ、手術などの通常の治療方法では視覚の改善が難しい状態を指します。ロービジョンケアでは、視覚障害による不便を最小限に抑え、自立した日常生活を送れるように、様々な補助機器、視覚訓練などの技術と支援に関する様々な情報を提供します。再生医療治療の前後にも必要となるものです。 

網膜再生医療とは

網膜再生医療は、疾患で傷害された網膜の機能回復を目指し、主に幹細胞から作った網膜細胞を移植する治療技術です。特に、加齢黄斑変性や網膜色素変性などを対象とし、臨床試験を通じてその安全性と効果を評価しています。同じ病気でも全症例が当てはまるわけではありませんが、将来的には難治性網膜疾患の良い治療となる可能性 があります。

Kobe iClinic is an online ophthalmology clinic specialized in tele-healthcare services. Patients can see Dr. MasayoTakahashi for retinal regeneration medical consultation. As this is a private medical care, all consultation fees are fully out-of-pocket. Appointments, consultations, and payments are conducted through our online tele-healthcare system. Patients newly visit our clinic are required to register in the system before their first appointment. For patients who interested in retinal regeneration medical consultation, it is necessary to upload their ophthalmology examination images (such as OCT scans, visual field tests, fundus photographs) to the system. What is “retinal regeneration”?

Retinal regenerative therapy aims to restore the function of degenerated retinas, using innovative techniques involving stem cell-based retinal cell transplantation therapy. It is particularly applied to conditions such as age-related macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa, and its safety and efficacy have been evaluated through clinical trials. While not effective for all cases at the moment, retinal regenerative therapy has potential to bring hope to many patients who suffer from visual impairment in the future.

What is “low vision”?

Low vision refers to a condition where conventional treatments such as wearing glasses, contact lenses, or surgery make it difficult to improve vision. In low vision consultation, we provide various information on technologies and supports, such as vision aids and visual training, to minimize inconvenience caused by visual impairment and enable independent

daily living. These are also necessary before and after receiving regenerative medicine treatments.
